Powering the Move to the Cloud of the European R&E Community
Since 2016 Sparkle works with major institutions and cloud service providers to enable research and education organizations to provision services avoiding time-consuming and costly procurement processes. In this context, Sparkle is Google Cloud integrator within the Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE) Framework promoted by a consortium incorporating CERN, RHEA, Trust-IT and led by GÉANT, Europe's leading organization supporting the uptake of digital services for the benefit of universities and research entities.
Sparkle and the OCRE Cloud Framework Agreement
The OCRE Cloud Framework is a standardized contractual vehicle and procurement process offering an easy, safe, predictable and controlled modality to purchase cloud solutions and ancillary professional services.
Under the OCRE Framework Agreement Sparkle is Google Cloud integrator and provider of professional services to support the move to the cloud of R&E European institutions. Services are offered in 27 countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
Cloud technologies provide virtualized computing resources ranging from compute, storage, database and networking to machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and security.
